Seven kids are at summer camp when seven devices fall from the sky. As soon as they each grab one a huge wave
appears and carries them all off. Tai wakes up to a pink head with big eyes sitting on his chest. Tai is a little
freaked out by it. The little pink thing knows his name is Tai and introduces himself as Koromon. Izzy, a computer
expert comes over with a pink ghost like thing following, he introduces himself as Motimon. Eventually the rest
of the team meets up. Matt with Tsunomon, Sora with Yokomon, Joe with Bukamon, and T.K. with Tokomon.
Mimi comes running with Tanemon not far behind her, and a champion level giant beetle named Kuwagamon. The little
creatures, called digital monsters, or digimon for short, attack the beetle digimon but aren't strong enough.
Koromon won't give up though, he orders the other in-training digimon to attack. Tai runs after Koromon to try and stop
him when the item that fell from the sky back at camp started to glow, along with everyone elses. Seven lights
appear out of the sky and cover the in-training digimon, making them all evolve. Koromon becomes Agumon, Yokomon
becomes Biyomon, Tanemon becomes Palmon, Tokomon becomes Patamon, Motimon becomes Tentomon, Bukamon becomes Gomamon,
and Tsunomon becomes Gabumon. Together the seven rookie level digimon attack Kuwagamon. Kuwagamon seems to have been
beaten, but he appears again, and breaks off the edge of the cliff the digimon and kids were on, sending them down
into the river below.
Later on, the kids find out that they are the digidestined, chosen ones to save the digital world. They also
encounter Devimon, an evil fallen angel digimon. One by one the digimon digivolve into their champion forms,
all but Patamon that is. In the final battle with Devimon, Patamon digivolves into Angemon, who uses all his
energy to kill Devimon. Because he used so much of his energy, Angemon turns into a digiegg. T.K. was worried
that he had lost his beloved partner. But soon the digiegg hatches into Poyomon, and eventually Tokomon.
The digidestined are informed of items called tags and crests, the tags hold the crests and the crests symbolize
a certain aspect of the digidestined personality. Tai is the first to get his, the Crest of Courage. Tai wants to
protect the other so tries to force Greymon to digivolve by putting himself in danger. His plan works, except
Greymon digivolves wrong, turning into SkullGreymon. SkullGreymon attacks the enemy Greymon, but then turns on
the other digidestined's digimon. Luckily SkullGreymon uses up a lot of his energy and de-digivolves into Koromon.
Koromon keeps crying and shaking, obviously upset at what he almost did. Tai apologizes again and again to
Koromon, feeling like a failure as a digidestined and partner. Koromon later on digivolves back into Agumon, but
when Kuwagamon attacks them, Tai refuses to let Agumon digivolve, fearing that he'll digivolve wrong again. Agumon
feels the same way freezes up. Tai tackles him when Kuwagamon was just about to hit him. Piximon appears and kills
Kuwagamon and yells at the digimon partners, saying that they are supposed to protect their human partners but
half the time they are protecting them. Piximon takes the digimon and digidestined to his home and begins training
them. Piximon sends Tai and Agumon on a quest so they get the courage to digivolve again. Etemon has one of his
minions attack Matt and Izzy as they get their crests. Tai and Greymon arrive just in time to kill DarkTyrannomon
and save the others.
Eventually the rest of the digidestined get their crests; Matt gets Friendship, Mimi Sincerity, Sora Love,
Joe Reliablity, T.K. Hope, and Izzy Knowledge. Tai finally gets Greymon to digivolve, this time the right way.
The new Ultimate level MetalGreymon beats Etemon, but MetalGreymon rips a hole in the digital world and he and
Tai get sucked into a worm hole. The arrive back in the real world at the same time Tai and the others had
originally been sucked into the digital world. Back in the digital world, the team is upset at the loss of Tai and
Agumon. Sora leaves the team and eventually the team splits up completely. Tai and Agumon return to the digital world
to find Tokomon alone with T.K.'s tag and crest. When Tai asks where T.K. and the others are, he says that they all
split up because Tai wasn't there and that T.K. yelled at him and was off somewhere with DemiDevimon. Later
DemiDevimon shows his true colors and Tokomon digivolves into Patamon and beats DemiDevimon. Soon the team meets
up again and they find out about an evil vampire digimon named Myotismon. Myotismon is after the eighth digidestined
and plans on opening a gate to the real world to find him. Tai and the gang try to stop him but Myotismon's best
minion, Gatomon, stops them. She beats all their digimon, revives the Devidramon statues with her holy ring and gets
through the gate, leaving the digidestined trapped ithout a way back home.
Gennai gives Tai a bunch of digimon cards that can open the gate, but only a certain order can open the right
gate. Izzy discovers the order, but can't decide which final card to use. The final choice is left up to Tai,
who decides to use the Gomamon card instead of the Agumon card, which works and the gate opens. Once back home,
the search for the eighth child begins. Tai thinks it's Kari and asks her if she has a digivice, she says she
doesn't. Later on Kari runs into Gatomon at the park. She follows her home and decides the best choice is to
kill Kari just in case she's the eighth child. Kari catches her off guard and she runs away. After that, Gatomon
watches Kari from the building across the street. Wizardmon, an old friend of Gatomon appears with the digivice,
he carries Gatomon over to Kari and as she reaches for the digivice Gatomon holds out it starts to glow. Now that
the eighth digidestined has been found, Gatomon and Wizardmon go to Myotismon's lair to get the real crest.
Myotismon shows up and attacks them. Tai and MetalGreymon come to help Gatomon but Myotismon gets away with her,
planning to use her to lure out the eighth child. Myotismon begins rounding up all the kids in the area
and Tai leaves Kari with Matt and Gabumon as he heads out to rescue the captives. Phantomon overhears Tai telling
Sora where Kari and Matt are and follows. He attacks the three of them and has a chain wrapped around
Matt's neck when Kari gives herself up to save him. Phantomon takes her to Myotismon. Later on the team meets up
again at the T.V station and start fighting with Myotismon, who just keeps deflecting their attacks. As Myotismon
launches his most powerful attack at Kari and Gatomon, Wizardmon steps in and takes the full force of the blow.
Wizardmon says good-bye to Gatomon and dies. Kari activates her crest, the Crest of Light, and Gatomon digivolves
into Angewomon, an angel digimon, who shoots Myotismon right through the heart. They think that they killed him,
but they didn't. Myotismon returns as VenomMyotismon, a mega level digimon. Kari and T.K. tell their digimon to
shoot Tai and Matt with their arrows. They do and activate Agumon and Gabumon's warp digivolutions. Agumon becomes
WarGreymon and Gabumon becomes MetalGarurumon. WarGreymon delivers the final blow that defeats him. The digidestined
then head back to the digital world.
Once they arrive they are attacked by the dark masters and Chuumon dies protecting Mimi, followed by Piximon. They
get away and are attacked by the dark master, MetalSeadramon. The digidestined are saved by Whamon but not for long.
MetalSeadramon attacks again, WarGreymon tries to fight but gets caught in MetalSeadramon's jaws. Whamon attacks and
manages to free him, but MetalSeadramon uses his river of power attack and kills Whamon. Later, Mimi breaks down and
makes graves for all the digimon that died for them. Tai says they don't have time for it and that starts an argument
with Matt. Puppetmon attacks and takes T.K. Matt starts to lose it, but T.K. manages to escape on his own. Matt doesn't
know what to do now. T.K. said he didn't need him and he proved it. Matt leaves the group and meets Cherrymon. Back
with the others, Kari is hearing strange voices and the other digidestined think she's losing like Matt. Cherrymon
is trying to convince Matt to fight Tai, eventually Matt decides to fight. Matt shows up and kills the Garbagemon to
save Kari but then MetalGarurumon attacks Agumon. Tai tells Matt to call him off but Matt says no. Agumon warp
digivolves into WarGreymon an the two megas fight. Tai and Matt also start fighting, that's when the entity Kari had
been talking to possesses her. She gives off a bright white light that makes the two megas de-digivolve and carries then all
off. She takes them to see a past event that shows Gennai trying to get the digieggs, tags, and crests to safety.
Matt decides to go off on his own and Mimi and Joe leave the group too. Later on, Matt and MetalGarurumon return to
destroy Puppetmon. Kari suddenly passes out with a high fever, scaring Tai. They try to find a hospital and end up
in Machindramon's city. Tai and Izzy locate a hospital and Izzy uses his laptop to decide on what is the best to help
Kari. By using his laptop, Machindramon knows their location and orders a group of Mekanorimon and Tankmon to attack.
Tai gets mad at Izzy and blames him for Machindramon finding them. While they're in hiding, Tai tells Izzy that
when they were little Kari almost died because he had been careless. Izzy decided to use the laptop again, but this
time he does it so that there are multiple locations showing up in an attempt to confuse Machindramon. Only Machindramon
decides to level the whole city instead of looking for them. Tai and Izzy make it back just in time to see the building
that Sora, T.K., and Kari had been hiding in get blown up by one of Megadramon's bombs. Sora comes out of the bushes
behind them carrying Kari. Machindramon shows up and attacks, Kari, Sora, and T.K. fall into one area of the sewers
while Tai and Izzy fall in another. Kari wakes up and her fever is gone, her, Sora, and T.K. begin searching for
Tai and Izzy. The come across a bunch of Numemon who are being forced to work for WaruMonzaemon. Kari passes out again
as a light comes off her. Sora and T.K. lead WaruMonzaemon away while Kari and Gatomon free the Numemon. WaruMonzaemon
returns as well as Sora and T.K. Kari fearlessly attempts to stand up to WaruMonzaemon, when he reaches for her the
light covers her body again and hurts WaruMonzaemon who retreats. They all meet up with again just in time for
Machindramon to make his move. Kari stands up to him and the Numemon try to protect her and end up getting killed,
Kari colapses as she releases the light again, this time it surrounds Agumon, forcing him to warp digivolve into
WarGreymon and giving him enough power to kill Machindramon with one hit. Next, the digidestined head off to
face Piedmon. Tai knows they can't win unless they are all back together so he sends Sora and T.K. off to find Matt,
Mimi, and Joe. WarGreymon starts fighting Piedmon but things aren't looking too good, Tai starts feeling WarGreymon's
pain and with each attack he gets weaker and weaker. Izzy tries to help Tai but he tells Izzy to stay back
and protect Kari. Piedmon lets off another attack that shatters WarGreymon's armor. WarGreymon and Tai are dying when
Matt, Sora, T.K., and Joe arrive. Matt's crest gives Garurumon more power and he revives WarGreymon, in doing so he
saves Tai as well. Piedmon starts turning everyone into dolls till only Kari, T.K., and Patamon are left. Patamon
digivolves all the way to his Ultimate form, MagnaAngemon, who beats Piedmon and rescues the others. After Piedmon
returns to attack them again, the digidestined destroy him. But they don't have time to rest because Apocalymon attacks.
He destroys all the tags and crests and sends the digidestined with their partners to a world of light, 0's and 1's.
They discover that the crests were inside them all along and their digimon digivolve and the return to the digital
world. They destroy Apocalymon and finally save the world. Gennai informs them that the digital world is resetting
itself and that if they don't go home they'll be destroyed. So the digidestined say their good-byes to their digimon
partners and return home.
